DR. DAVID KNEIP

David Kneip serves as the associate director of the Siburt Institute and as an associate professor in ACU’s Department of Bible, Missions and Ministry. His teaching focuses on church history, worship, and the New Testament, and his primary research interests are in early church history, the interpretation and understanding of the Bible, and the study of Christian worship. David’s ministry background is in youth and worship ministry, and he has been able to continue those ministries as a dedicated volunteer in a local Abilene congregation, along with his wife and two teenage daughters.  David earned his bachelor’s degree at Duke University, his M.Div. from ACU, and his Ph.D. in church history from Notre Dame.

DR. CARSON REED

Carson Reed is vice president for church relations, executive director of the Siburt Institute for Church Ministry, and the dean of the Graduate School of Theology at ACU.  Through these roles, Carson also engages in interim preaching, advising, and consulting in the areas of transition, renewal, and leadership. His work places him in dozens of congregations across the United States. His  research focuses on practical theology, preaching, faith and culture, and congregational renewal. Before coming to ACU in 2012, Carson served for 30 years as a senior minister in three congregations. He has a B.A. in English literature from Oklahoma Christian, an M.Div. from Harding School of Theology, and a D.Min. from ACU. Carson and his wife Vickie have been married over 40 years, have four grown children, and two grandsons. They enjoy cooking and outdoor life together!

SHELBY COBLE

Shelby Coble serves as Assistant Director for the Siburt Institute. After earning her bachelor’s degree in Bible and Ministry at Harding University, she served in ministry for six years at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky.  Over the last few years, she has served the Siburt Institute in various roles while completing her M.Div. through ACU’s Graduate School of Theology. She manages Siburt’s consultative work and partners with the other Siburt Institute church consultants while maintaining research and writing related to the needs of congregations and ministers.

ROBERT OGLESBY

Robert Oglesby has worked with churches for over 40 years, 15 of which were at the Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene, where he served as youth and family minister and staff administrator. In 1999, Robert started full-time at ACU, where he teaches ministry classes, directs the Center for Youth and Family Ministry, and coordinates the Ministers’ Support Network. He was selected as the Teacher of the Year in 2014-15. Robert specializes in youth and family ministry and is passionate about training ministers, consulting with church leaders, and working with churches in crisis.

DR. RON BRUNER

Ron serves as the editor of Discernment: Theology and the Practice of Ministry, the Siburt Institute’s peer-reviewed journal of practical theology. This digital, online, open-access journal reaches over 140 countries with scholarship relevant to church life that is also accessible, understandable, and useful.  Since 1999, Ron has served as executive director of the Westview Boys’ Home (Hollis, Oklahoma), and he periodically teaches ministry courses in ACU’s Graduate School of Theology. His interests center on the fields of intergenerational, children’s, and youth ministry, and his latest book is Owning Faith: Reimagining the Role of Church and Family in the Faith Journey of Teenagers (co-edited with Dudley Chancey).
