You’ll get to hear from six speakers who come from a variety of ministerial, professional, and academic backgrounds.
Phil Brookman is the preaching minister at the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Edmond, Oklahoma, where he has served on staff for 17 years. He earned his bachelor's degree in youth ministry in 2005 and his master’s in Bible in 2009, both from Oklahoma Christian University. Phil married Mary Moore in 2005, and together they have two beautiful children, Anna (12) and Heidi (10). He enjoys running, reading, and spending time with his family, and he never turns down a good Mexican meal. Phil is passionate about scripture, discipleship, and spiritual formation.
After ministering several years in congregations in Connecticut and Massachusetts, Mark Hamilton moved to Abilene Christian University in 2000. There he teaches courses in Biblical Hebrew and Old Testament. He has been a visiting professor at universities in Ghana, Russia, Croatia, Israel, and South Korea. Mark has also lectured and preached in many parts of the United States, and several other countries. He is the author or editor of 11 books and dozens of articles in biblical studies. In addition to his work at Abilene Christian University, Mark served for over ten years as an elder of the University Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas (2011-2021). He preaches and teaches in churches in many locales.
Grady King is co-leader and president of HOPE Network. He served 42 years in church ministry, mainly as the preacher and lead minister in five congregations. 26 of those years were spent in two congregations in Irving and Mansfield (both in Texas). Through HOPE Network, Grady also serves as director of church resources at Oklahoma Christian University. He received his formal education at Oklahoma Christian University and Abilene Christian University (education, biblical studies, and D. Min.). Grady and his wife Karen have been married 42 years and have two married children and two grandchildren. His passion is healthy leaders and healthy churches.
John Knox has served as preaching minister for Granbury Church of Christ in Granbury, Texas, since 2004, and he has been in full-time ministry since 1987. He holds a B.A. in speech communications and an M.S. in clinical mental health counseling from Lubbock Christian University, as well as an M.A. in biblical studies and a Doctor of Ministry from Abilene Christian University. John has a special interest in crisis ministry, serving in law enforcement chaplaincy since 1990. He also serves as a team leader for Granbury Police Department’s Crisis Negotiation Team. John and his wife, Jan, have three adult sons and one grandson.
Roland Orr is a retired CPA/corporate executive. He and his wife, Jeri, have lived in Abilene, Texas, for 50 years, and he has served as an elder of the Highland Church of Christ for 27 years. They have three grown children and five very special grandchildren. During his professional career, Roland worked with a multinational accounting firm and several privately held corporations, serving at various times as executive vice president, CFO, and COO. In his retirement, in addition to serving on the boards of several non-profit organizations, he consults with and assists businesses, churches, and church leaders with planning, organizational issues, transition management, vision-casting, and conflict resolution.
David Wray is an elder at the Highland Church of Christ in Abilene, Texas. He served for 20 years in congregational ministry before transitioning to teaching and leadership in ACU’s College of Biblical Studies. After retiring from ACU, David served as the interim director of ElderLink and later as director or co-director of Summit. As a consulting partner in the Siburt Institute for Church Ministry, he works with churches in the areas of staff relationships, best practices for spiritual transformation, strategic planning for church mission and vision, and equipping church leaders in their pastoral role.
